We at melaS
Software (a division of melaS International) strive to bring you simple
little software programs that make life that little bit easier. Often,
in order to do this we need to give our products the ability to connect
to the internet. This is all well and good if it makes our products
better, but with internet connectivity comes the risk of your privacy.
melaS Software take privacy and security very seriously, this page will
describe in detail what exactly IntelliUpdate communicates over the internet
so that you are fuly aware of what is happening.
Firstly, all forthcoming melaS Software products include IntelliUpdate.
IntelliUpdate is our very own update tool that will check for available
updates to the melaS Software product you are using. But how does
IntelliUpdate work?
When run IntelliUpdate downloads a Microsoft Access (.mdb) database
file from the melaS International website and save it in to
file://C:/Program Files/melaS/NetPlayer on your computer. This database
contains information about the latest software versions. Once the file
has been downloaded IntelliUpdate will compare the version number of
your product with the version number stored in the database. If the
version number stored in the database is larger, you will be asked
whether you would like to download and install the new version. If you
choose to upgrade, IntelliUpdate will begin downloading the upgrade
file,once complete IntelliUpdate & the melaS Software you're upgrading
will close (if required) and the upgrade installation will begin.
For added internal security, the Microsoft Access document will
automatically be deleted from your computer upon closing of the melaS
Software product. When a melaS Software product is opened it will again
try to delete the Microsoft Access file as well as any upgrade file that
have previously been downloaded.
